Campus Greening Initiative

The Campus Greening group is a student representation on the cross-School steering group for the campus sustainability initiative: e.g. recycling, waste reduction, or energy saving. Over the past years several measures have been taken to make London Business School a more sustainable place:

  •  Automatic shut-down of all computers if idle for more than 20 minutes
  •  Evening patrols by LBS staff to switch off all lights in study rooms
  •  Set-up of recycling bins, now accepting plastic bottles, glass bottles and cans aside from paper
  •  Default double-sided printing at all printing stations
  •  Soon to come: Pull-printers, requiring students to swipe their access cards in order to release the requested print outs. A monthly printing quota per student is being evaluated. This initiative will further save paper and avoid forgotten print outs at the printing stations.

These initiatives are already paying off. During the 07/08 academic year, for example, electricity consumption was reduced by 16% compared to the previous year, saving almost 1,000,000 kWh. For monthly electricity usage details please click here.
